Post Help: MeGUI Threw Error
I'm not new to MeGUI but I am totally green with SUP files... so, I started searching for how to "burn" subtitles into the video and came across your AVISYNTH plugin. Perfect!!! It even has a flag to only process forced subtitles!!! Double perfect...

Following the install instructions, I put the DLLs (v1.0.9) under the avisynth plugin directory created beneath the MeGUI install... check. I thought I already had the MS Visual C++ libraries installed so I looked for your specifically requested dir under WinSxS. Not there, so I D/Led all 3 or the EXEs and reinstalled... still not there exactly as shown in the install instructions. Now I gave it a try with the following AVS script just to see what would happen.

Code:
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\megui\tools\avisynth_plugin\SupTitle.dll")
clip = DirectShowSource("E:\temp\F1_T2_Video - .mkv", fps=23.976, audio=false, convertfps=true)
return clip.SupTitle("E:\temp\subs.sup", forcedOnly=true)
#deinterlace
#crop
#resize
#denoise

This is the script generated by MeGUI and then massaged by me to load your plugin. Everything seem to start to encode fine but then the encode seems to bail right at the frame where I know a force subtitle is supposed to be displayed. As a test, I tried "playing" the video via the preview window as opposed to just running the encoder. Should I see the subtitles rendered correctly into the preview window? I don't... The video seems to pause then skip over the frames where a forced subtitle is supposed to be onscreen.

Anyways, this plugin is perfect for what I'm trying to accomplish. Not being 100% sure the runtime libraries are correctly installed, that could be the issue. Beyond that, I was hoping I could get a hand. I'm willing to provide some details from the MeGUI error log and such if some debugging is required that might lead to an update to SupTitle. For now, I've attached the MeGUI log from today. It stopped at frame 16030 which is the first frame where a forced subtitle was to appear.

+1. Same issue here. I installed all the runtime packages linked from the website but I still get the same problem. Windows 7 64bit.

interestingly, at first i was just getting an error popup in megui, but then sliding around the location slider a bit got the subs to show up. unfortunately this isn't good enough for the x264 command line encoder it seems, and after the first frame an error was thrown it just stopped decoding anything else.

I reread the install instructions... after installing the 3 EXEs that are linked, should the directory (exactly as shown) be there? What should be underneath it? I've got some dirs that are very close but none identical. Then, it occurred to me that maybe I'd misunderstood. Are users supposed to create it manually? I dunno... really reaching here.

Anyways, still dead in the water. I tried grabbing a copy of SUPRead v0.52b2 and it's able to read and display the SUP that I was trying to overlay on my video with SupTitle. For the record, I fiddled again with the slider in the video preview window under MeGUI. No luck. No matter what I do, I can't get any subtitles of overlay. :|

I've found other posts around the net where people have had success with this plugin. I'm soooo hoping that I can get it sorted.

For what it's worth, this functionality should DEFINITELY be rolled into a powerful suite like MeGUI. This is such a killer feature! Thanx, Zack!

i tried with forcedonly=false, and the regular english subs embed fine, it seems to be just the forced ones which cause the problem.

Good thinking... I never thought to try that... I changed "forcedOnly=true" to "forcedOnly=false" and you are correct. Now, I get all the normal subtitles but the forced ones are displaying the same behaviour in that the preview window freezes and then skips ahead whenever a forced subtitle is supposed to be displayed.

This is a positive step though... I assume, if I did an encode as opposed to just watching the preview window, the encoder would bail at the 1st forced sub again. :(

I seem to be having the same issue. The movie I'm having issue with is Avatar. I noticed when I was running the subs through SupRip that the regular caption's text completely filled the window but the Na'vi subtitles were not only a different font but seemed to all be a 16x9 frame with the subtitle really small on the bottom as if is was stored as a full 1080p image.

Could this possibly be the issue others are having?

Guys,

Post your SUP files somewhere I can download and I'll see what's really the problem. Before that though, please try the following:

1) Playback your AVS file in Windows Media Player
2) Check that your subs appear

Same movie... I'm not familiar with SubRip though... as I mentioned above, I did load the SUP file extracted via eac3to into SUPRead and both the regular and forced (Na'vi) titles look "correct" with the font being different for the Na'vi. I say correct as I watched the movie from my BD player this week and the forced subs in SUPRead look pretty much as I remember them when watching directly from the disc.

Plays fine in Windows Media Player Classic with all subs (I changed forcedOnly to false for now) until first forced subtitle then the screen goes black and says "System.AccessViolationExeption: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. at SupTitle.GetFrame(SupTitle*, PVideoFrame*, Int32 n, IScriptEnvironment* env)

SUP file can be downloaded at: http://www.sendspace.com/file/8tzqd2

Thanx for taking a look... sure would be great to get this working. I'm encoding something else now which seems to be good. The only difference is that that SUP had no forced entries...
